About The Pattern, In The Designer's Words

It’s been cold and dreary for days and days, and the only thing getting me through has been gorgeously bright (and deliciously warm) crochet accessories. The Through the Clouds Shawl is perfect for when the gloom seems never ending - it’s designed to explode with color and the cashmere is all kinds of cozy.

Simple stitching and clever striping combine to make a totally unique accessory with the Through the Clouds Shawl. The pattern uses just sc and ch, but combines them in unusual ways to make an eye-catching shawl that’s a delight to work up and to wear.

Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The pattern calls for a variegated or speckled color as the main color and two coordinating tonals as the contrast colors.

To make the shawl as stated, the pattern uses 860-1640yds/786-1500m/210-400g fingering weight total. It calls for 410-820yds/375-750m/100-200g of a variegated as color A, 205-410yds/187-275m/50-100g of a tonal as color B, 245-410yds/225-275m/60-100g of a tonal as color C.

If you’re customizing the pattern and want to calculate your own yardage, color A should be approximately half your total yardage. All your contrast colors combined should make up the other half of your yardage. As always, I recommend erring on the side of caution and getting slightly more yarn than you think you’ll need in every color.

Size
When gauge is met, 860yds/786m/210g of fingering weight will net a shawl that has a wingspan of 43.5”/110cm and measures 21.5”/55cm down the back. 1640yds/1500m/400g of fingering weight will net a shawl that has a wingspan of 72”/183cm and measures 34”/86cm down the back. Size can easily be customized by working extra/fewer repeats.

Modifications and Adjustments
Notes are included for adjusting the following:
Working with more/fewer colors; working more/fewer stripes; adjusting the size of each stripe; adding a border

Skills Required
ch, sc, changing colors, working flat
