About The Pattern, In The Designer's Words
Fox Paws is a rectangular wrap with a distinctive stripe motif that looks like little interlocking fox feet. Using only increases and decreases, stripes are shaped into extreme waves using my signature stacked stitches technique. If you've never tried this technique before, check out my basic stacked stitches playlist on YouTube by clicking here.
I wanted to work with MollyGirl's Rock Star base because the springy merino yarn makes the stacked stitches easier to work and helps regulate your gauge. We chose a thicker yarn because not only is it better for winter wear, faster to knit, and has the added benefit of being easier to see as you work this motif.
We spent the most time picking the perfect colorways. Over the last 5 years I've seen a lot of finished projects and I wanted to give a unique perspective on striped colorwork. My favorite projects are always tightly focused palettes centered around an overall color mood. We put together three kits of harmonious tones; they tend to be easier to wear because there's less to match with your outfit.
The 5th Anniversary kit is not only celebrating the pattern; it's a thank-you-note to the knitters all over the world who made it possible for me to make this my full time career. I am honored to be a part of a subculture which values skill, innovation, and above all, individuality.
