About The Pattern, In The Designer's Words
Sometimes there’s a love so perfect and true, you know it’s been written in the stars. And when you find a yarn that makes you feel that way, it needs a pattern that will let it shine.
For me, that was the Written in the Stars Shawl. The yarn was love at first sight, the pattern worked exactly as I imagined, and the two paired together perfectly. This almost never happens with designing, but clearly it was meant to be.
The Written in the Stars Shawl is designed to highlight the yarns you love most. It works with any color or color combination - the solid section showcases how the color plays out and the lace breaks up busy colorways. Pick a color or two (or more) that makes your heart sing and create a project to fall in love with!
The pattern is an intermediate pattern that relies on being comfortable reading your work.
Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The pattern is designed to work with two colors and uses 463yds/423m/100g in color A and 324yds/296m/70g in color B. If you are customizing the yardage, you’ll need ~15% more of color A. The shawl can be customized in any number of ways - work it all in one color, stripe more than two colors, work one color as a gradient or using minis, or whatever else your heart desires!
The pattern is designed to work with almost any colorway. The solid showcases exactly how the color works out in neat dc rows and the lace rows break up busy colorways. The stripes add enough visual interest to shine in two solids, but there’s enough variation to make it work with two busier colorways, too.
The pattern is shown in a fingering weight yarn, but will work well in anything from a lace to an aran.
Size
When gauge is met, 787yds/720m of fingering weight will net a shawl that measures 42”/107cm along the short edge formed by the last row and 68”/172.5cm along the top border. It has a wingspan of 45”/114cm. Straight down the back, from the top border to the point, measures 17”/43cm. Size can be customized by working extra/fewer repeats or adjusting the size of the repeats.
